Extended evening hours public transport trial receives positive response 

We are pleased to let you know that our trial of extended evening hours has been reviewed positively. The trial will continue, with some adjustments.

Since the end of January, we have been running the service until 9pm on Friday and Saturday nights. During the trial period, 337 people, representing 10% of all MyWay customers, used the evening service.

Our data shows that while patronage was quite good within Timaru up until 8pm, very few people used the service between 8pm and 9pm.

Starting this Friday, 26 July, we will adjust our service to run until 8pm on Friday and Saturday nights.

Based on the service use during the trial, we will extend the trial until 30 April next year. This will allow us to assess the seasonal use of the evening service with a year's worth of data.

The evening service was used very infrequently by customers going to Washdyke. To improve the service efficiency for everyone, we will reduce the evening service boundary to exclude the Washdyke area, from the Old North Road/SH1 intersection.
