Celebrating half a million riders with a special gift
MyWay by Metro, Timaru's pioneering on-demand public transport service, has reached a momentous milestone – welcoming its 500,000th rider. Since its introduction in early 2020, MyWay has continually evolved, reshaping the way Timaru's residents travel and connect.
As part of this remarkable achievement, MyWay organised a special celebration for the 500,000th rider. Noriza Martin was surprised to receive a call from Justin McLauchlan, Environment Canterbury’s Timaru General Manager on Friday, as well as a free month’s travel on MyWay.
Noriza has been using the MyWay service since it launched in March 2020, and has nearly clocked up 2000 rides.
Justin McLauchlan says that MyWay has soared in popularity.
"The achievement of half a million riders is a testament to MyWay's success and the positive impact it has on our community. MyWay launched with the vision of providing adaptable and accessible transportation options for Timaru residents, and has reshaped traditional travel norms in Timaru. We're proud to celebrate this milestone and recognise the role MyWay plays in enhancing travel experiences across Timaru."
